Now that skateboarding has become a more acceptable and appreciated sport, county funds are being used to build state-of-the-art skate parks all over the U.S.
Georgia is no exception with nearly a dozen around the Atlanta metro area.
In October, the second annual Georgia Bowl Riders Championship at Brook Run Skate Park drew skaters and their families from all over the Southeast, proving that the sport is a great family outing. The event was a huge success with professional skateboarding legends Bill Danforth and Chris Markovitch judging and hosting all the aspiring young pro/am skaters.
Skateboarding offers many great benefits for kids. It promotes balance and agility and is a great form of personal expression. With the abundance of skateboarding events and skate parks abound, there is no excuse for couch potato kids.
(Most parks are attached to massive playgrounds as well.)
