This quiet little spot in the heart of downtown Decatur is the perfect choice for vegetarians, vegans, and carnivores alike. Vegan sauces, lots of vegetarian and vegan choices (not just the garden salad), homemade sauces, and a “green” approach to their packaging and trash disposal (they compost!) make them a solid choice.
Their meats aren’t my favorite, but it is worth it to see your vegan friends eat something other than salad at a BBQ joint. The bread is homemade, thick and hearty; the smoked tofu is firm and flavorful; the beef brisket is solid.
They have a kid’s menu with safe choices like mac and cheese and peanut butter and jelly, in case your picky kids won’t do barbecue. They have high chairs and are friendly with kids, and the tinted windows make it a little dark, but it’s a quiet nook away from the bustle of Commerce Street. And they have Cheerwine on tap!

As a vegetarian, I can happily say that I LOVE the barbecue tofu here! I also love that I can take meat-eating friends there and we can all be happy (and I don’t have to settle for a random pasta primavera or a meal cobbled together from side dishes). When I was there last time (admittedly too long ago), they also had homemade ice cream for dessert. Love it! Great review!
