Putumayo Kids have made a number of CDs that are in regular rotation at our house. In fact, both my 4-year-old and 19-month-old can’t fall asleep without their Putumayo Dreamland CD. So I was super excited to have a chance to check out Kids World Party.
Kids World Party almost immediately became a favorite. From the very first song “Préparons nous pour Faire la Fête,” which almost sounded like it would be an Abba song in French (this is a good thing), we were dancing around the living room and clapping along.
The upbeat saxophones and mamba rhythm of “Mambo Saana” is irresistibly danceable, as is “Nadie.” Nearly every song has a catchy chorus (which even the 19-month-old was singing along phonetically), and every song is upbeat with a quick tempo.
The diversity in the styles and origins of the selections definitely gave us what we. “Freezedance” is one we play over and over — role playing the animals and freezing in a bit of musical Simon says.
The 4-year-old says, “This is my favorite CD ever and it’s perfect for a princess.” The 19-month-old just keeps saying “truck,” but he’s shaking his diapered booty, so I think that’s two thumbs up from him, too.
Best part? It’s a kids’ CD they will love that you will also love singing along to and can bump with the windows down and maintain a shred of self-respect.
