These mini book reviews appeared in Little Shop of Stories’ 2012 Summer Reading Guide.

You may wonder what a bank robbery, a murder mystery, a race car driver and a quirky cafe all have in common. Miss Moses LoBeau is in the center of it all in the tiny southern town of Tupelo Landing, N.C. Mo is an unforgettable, plucky orphan who washed up on the shore after a hurricane. She may not know where she came from, but she knows exactly where she’s going, and she’ll do anything to protect the new family she has found in Tupelo Landing.

Three Times Lucky, by Sheila Turnage, $16.99, Penguin. Recommended for ages 10-14.

Check out the new series starring Clarice Bean’s favorite book character — Ruby Redfort. She’s a super smart, daring detective who always remains calm and cool in a crisis and stops criminals in their tracks. It is so fun to properly meet a character that we have heard so much about and then see her in action. Ruby and her butler, Hitch, will have you in stitches as they solve zany mysteries. Remember Ruby’s Rule No. 1: You can never be completely sure what might happen next.

Ruby Redfort: Look Into My Eyes, by Lauren Child, $16.99, Candlewick. Recommended for ages 10-13.

Both titles available at the Little Shop of Stories, 133A East Court Square, Decatur, 404-373-6300, www.littleshopofstories.com.
