Atomic Family is the parenting magazine for Atlanta families who don’t fit the traditional mold – blended, gay, bi-racial, adoptive, tattooed, pierced, just different …
Our content
We focus on the cool and edgy stuff for parents in the metro Atlanta area. We strive to highlight events that are out-of-the-ordinary, music that won’t drive parents crazy, and people and places who are doing extraordinary things in our community. We feature the coolest toys and offer tips for everything from going green to having fun!
Several times a week, we publish music and book reviews, worthy events, and interesting features and interviews.
Then each quarter, a new “issue” appears on the site. Included will be our regular features such as Featured Family (Q&A with family), Mama Rules and Daddy Rocks (focusing on parents), Artsy Fartsy (do-it-yourself cooking, crafts, etc.), Media Mania (CD, book and website reviews), Dining Out (mini-reviews of local restaurants), and our humor and going green columns.
Our history
Atomic Family was founded as a print publication named Ruckus in 2009 by Chuck Brank, publisher of PRICK magazine, and Lea Holland, a journalist and editor for 16 years. After publishing five issues, Lea took the reins and currently is the editor of the online ‘zine. She lives in Clarkston, Ga., with her husband, two daughters and two cats. She also really likes zombies.
